APRIL 2002 by Bob Mulligan

We can accomplish much if our energy is focused appropriately during April. We leave our more transient concerns in order to focus on what is more enduring in our lives. If our long range vision is balanced against the requirements of our practical concerns we can accomplish much this month. We get into trouble only when we lack clarity, then wasting time on things that don't matter. Values clarification and self-analysis come up time and again all month.

On the 1st it is evident that a slowdown of activities started last month will continue. Venus crosses into Taurus. Our efforts are rewarded when we focus on small achievable goals. Also, Saturn trines Neptune today indicating that this is a perfect time to complete a blueprint that will manifest in action over the next couple of months. If you have come to closure on some important decisions in life, be prepared to act. The pathway is clearly laid out now.

We feel energized on the 2nd and we are apt to look for quick solutions to our problems. Alas, none are forthcoming. Mercury (planet of thinking) is in Aries, the sign of immediacy. Further, challenging aspects of Mars to Jupiter prompt us to act quickly. We have the possibility of innovative thinking, however the productive action comes by examining slow long term progress.

On the 3rd we have the opportunity to clarify our true values. We feel tension created in us. On one hand we have our higher universal values, on the other we have our practical and immediate personal considerations. This is symbolized by Venus' struggle with Pluto today. Long standing beliefs are at odds with immediate gratification. Each of us in our own way demonstrates some conflict of choices. However, this is good as it can help us see our way through a real crisis of values which hovers over everyone's life now. Because Mercury (Messenger of the Gods) is placed by sextile between Neptune (Ideals) and Saturn (Necessities) , we really do have the ability to find long term solutions to life's more persistent problems now.

Sunday, the 7th is a pleasant, lucky, and insightful day. To understand why, though, we need to back up a bit. January 17, 1995, Pluto (Lord of Extremes) crossed into Sagittarius (Sign of Religion). Pluto will not complete its journey through this sign until January of 2008. These are years of human history in which we reflect on our basic beliefs. During this time we will take each pattern of faith to its ultimate conclusion. Today, with the Sun and Mercury trine Pluto we have the advantage of being able to look deeper into our most closely held assumptions about life. We do this every so often in this thirteen year period. Venus (Pleasure) sextiling Jupiter (Abundance) gives the day a comfortable flavor and some grounding for down to earth pursuits with home and family. Also remember - Daylight Saving Time begins today.

Wednesday the 10th finds Mars square Uranus. Be willing to say what is really on your mind. The habits of the past and the requirements of the future bring issues to the boiling point today.

On the 12th Mercury sextile Uranus shows we have an opportunity to think creatively. We have the NEW MOON at 3:22pm EDT. It's time to start over. This is the first new moon in the astrological new year. We need to pray for world peace, a higher love, harmony. If you think your meditation goes unnoticed, let me remind you, there have been over 150 statistical studies proving the value of distant intercessory prayer on human health. Our meditations for the health of the world also has an effect.

The 13th is a Saturday and a busy day indeed. Mars (Energy) parallels Saturn (Discipline), Mercury (planet of mental activity) moves into Taurus. Also Mars crosses into Gemini. Today we have the latitude to switch our methods and alter our desires. We have a chance to change what we want and also how we go about getting what we want. This of course, requires some self-reflection.

On the 18th Mercury (Analysis) squares Neptune (Illusion). It's easy to be "dazed and confused" today. Overlooking what is right in front of you may happen several times. However, this is a good time to meditate. Avoid making irreversible decisions now.

Saturday the 20th, the Sun crosses into Taurus, sign of fertility. Venus semi-squares Jupiter. There is romance in the air, however, frustrations can occur. We feel that we can't get what we really want now.

On the 22nd, the Sun (our vitality) forms a hard aspect to Pluto (sign of life and death). Our choices are polarized between immediate gains and long term need. This is a recurring theme all month. Patience is important. We tend to rebel against our set patterns on the 23rd as the Sun is contra-parallel both Pluto and Uranus. New options emerge, but do we have the courage and energy to follow them? Our usual course of action is interrupted on the 24th as Venus squares Uranus. Surprise interruptions gives seasoning to an already interesting week.

On the 25th Mercury parallels Venus, then Venus goes into Gemini. This is a day favoring communication. Efforts to lighten other people's spirits will have a positive effect.

The 26th is a busy day. We hurry against incredible odds as we struggle to complete tasks. Follow well worn paths now. Venus and Mercury parallel Saturn, and Mercury semi-squares Jupiter. Energy intensifying as we race toward the FULL MOON at 11:01pm EDT. Full moon meditations are always powerful.

We are apt to throw caution to the wind on the 28th as Mercury Squares Uranus. Traditional habits confront unique situations and unusual results are likely to emerge.

On the 29th our ideals are stirred and raised to a higher level as Mars trines Neptune. Long range solutions to real problems involving groups are possible now. This is the time to put our imagination through a good work out. Brilliant, breakthrough ideas can occur now.

On the 30th April draws to a close with Mercury moving into Gemini. This is a time of contemplation, renewal, and getting out to try something new.
