For
the third time this year, Mercury turns retrograde.
If it seems like we have had a lot of Mercury retrograde
periods this year, we have. And, we have one more
to go. We started 2004 with a Mercury retrograde period.
We had one in April, we have this one, and we have
the final one starting on the last day of November.
Look

retrograde for some specific hints about the phenomenon.
This Mercury retrograde comes just after reaching
his furthest distance from the sun. This is one indication
that we are striving for objectivity and perspective
as Mercury (lord of reason and communication) turns
retrograde in Virgo, (sign of analysis) on August
9th. We are attempting to achieve fairness as well
as an independent view of our daily affairs.
August
begins one day after a Full Moon. This helps give
the first week, 1st - 7th, is an intensely social
flavor. There is magic in the air as we get a chance
to connect with new people and meet old friends in
new ways.
From
the 7th -15th we use our time most productively focusing
on our own inner state. We wish to discover ourselves
by working within some limitation or container, home,
self, or the confines of a tradition.
From
the 16th to the 22nd, we are preoccupied with trying
to create something new. We are off and sailing with
lots of enthusiasm. We do ourselves a favor when we
look around us and recognize we have what we need.
From
the 23rd to the 31st we are working under time constraints.
We get where need to be by carefully defining what
we need to accomplish.
1st
- Sunday -Mercury opposite Uranus, Mars Contra-parallel
Pluto - Tension can be off the scale today. Work to
make harmony wherever possible. We don't need to know
exactly what is going on in order to do some good.
Other people may seem illusive today.
2nd
- Monday - Careful negotiations can bring our dreams
closer to our everyday life. This is a powerful day
to set goals.
3rd
- Tuesday-- Facts of the circumstance expand without
boundaries today. Be strong and sensitive to others.
You will be surprised at how much people reveal.
4th
- Wednesday - We are caught today between what we
wish for and our mundane tasks. Enthusiasm and raw
assertion do bring results.
5th - Thursday - Sun Contra-parallel, then opposite
Neptune - We have tremendous tension between what
we want to create and what might be in the common
interest of our community. We may learn some valuable
lessons about how to fit in with others. An emotional
"leap of faith" really helps us now.
6th
- Friday - Jupiter Square Pluto - Integration of our
theories, beliefs, and feelings are at odds with our
perceptions, and the reality of our daily lives. Integrating
the two can seem a daunting task. However, faith and
reason are not enemies. Big events rage around us
and we are still able to have fun in our home and
personal lives. It's a good night for a date.
7th - Saturday - Saturn Sesquiquadrates Uranus, Venus
enters Cancer. You can't do everything but you can
take care of important personal things. We are having
a stronger urge to stay home and be with our family
even when that is uncomfortable.
8th
- Sunday - Mercury Parallel Jupiter - We can take
a big leap in logic today and tie together many things
we have been working on.
9th
- Monday - Mercury turns retrograde - Delineate the
things that need to be reviewed over the next three
weeks. It is most important that you keep moving at
this time.
10th
- Tuesday - Mars enters Virgo - We can easily get
stuck in the mud today. Some quiet time to work alone
may be called for. Be patient and stay focused on
one project if you can.
11th
- Wednesday - Sun Trine Pluto - Venus and the Moon
are conjunct in Cancer today and we may feel very
nostalgic for the way that things used to be. Let
someone know you care and keep your new found energy
aimed at short term immediate goals.
12th
- Thursday - We find ourselves drifting today unless
we have clearly defined plans. Communications are
strengthened and practical results are achievable.
13th
- Friday - Venus Trine Uranus, Sun Contra-parallel
Pluto, Sun Semi-sextile Saturn - Stay close to the
tried and true. Avoid letting your emotional energy
lead the rest of you; we can be all stirred up with
no place to go.
14th
- Saturday - Mercury Parallel Jupiter - The whole
gambit of options are open to us now. Choose your
preferences then place your energy behind them and
push. Hard work brings results and satisfaction now.
15th
- Sunday - Mercury Sextile Venus - The New Moon is
at 10:25 PM EDT, 23 Leo. - It's a good time to balance
the head and the heart. Relax and make some time for
meditation. The moment of the New Moon is the start
of something new.
16th
- Monday - Mercury Semi-square Saturn - We can take
small hesitating steps in a new direction. We can
feel tension building with people and circumstances
around and within us. Now is not the moment for big
sweeping changes. Be satisfied with the pace of the
process.
17th
- Tuesday - Jupiter Sextile Saturn - Our vision and
balance can be very clear today. Long-term issues
with our lifestyle can be resolved if we put a little
effort into examining our lives.
18th
- Wednesday - Mars opposite Uranus, Mercury Conjunct
Mars and opposite Uranus - Finally the tension is
released. Avoid being in the path of people and things
that can be out of control. Today is an important
time to stay focused; be careful, and look for unique
opportunities.
19th
- Thursday - Mars Contra-parallel Uranus - Heavy stress
and several new obligations can make today very rugged.
Relaxing and listening to music can be very beneficial.
Now can be the optimal time for doing something you
have never done before.
20th
- Friday - A hard look at yourself today reveals important
information. Be willing to change course to achieve
your goals.
21st
- Saturday - Mars Semi-square Saturn, Venus Quincunx
Neptune - Cautious, measured risk-taking moves us
forward. Don't waste the day in self-doubt.
22nd
- Sunday - The Sun enters Virgo - We are hurrying
to finish up old projects while carefully evaluating
new things that are coming our way.
23rd
- Monday -Sun Conjunct Mercury - We are taking some
new steps as we enter a new mental cycle. We have
our eye on achieving practical results. The process
becomes very important and understanding the connections
of each step helps us make appropriate choices.
24th
- Tuesday - Mercury enters Leo - We become much more
determined to get things done to our satisfaction.
Be careful that your resolve doesn't create a road
block to harmony.
25th
- Wednesday - Sun Contra-parallel Uranus - Getting
your interests integrated with your group of associates
can be problematic today. Be aware that new options
can show up on their own and take you to some place
completely different.
26th
- Thursday - Mercury Parallel Mars - A wild urge to
stir the pot and get everyone around you moving doesn't
blend too harmoniously with the need for practical
results. You may have to keep silent and do everything
on your own in order to be effective now.
27th
- Friday - Sun Opposite Uranus, Venus Quincunx Pluto
- We have energy plus excitement. Work to let the
compassionate side of your nature make the difference
in your everyday life. Dream big dreams but keep your
activities focused on what can be done today.
28th
- Saturday - Venus Sesquiquadrate Uranus - Romance,
excitement, and the arts occupy our attention. Go
out and have fun or stay home and have an artistic
and romantic evening anyway.
29th
- Sunday - The Full Moon occurs at 10:23pm EDT. We
are having an intensely mental day. Work on several
levels is possible. Big steps along the path of life
can be made swiftly.
30th
- Monday - Pluto turns Direct - We can see the handwriting
on the wall so to speak today. We bring some long
cherished project to a conclusion. Now, we must decide
what stays and what goes.
31st
- Tuesday - Mercury Contra-parallel Uranus, Mars Quincunx
Neptune, Sun Semi-square Saturn, Venus Conjunct Saturn
- Mentally stimulating and emotionally draining, today
can be a perfect time to figure out where you belong.
Don't be dismayed by the things external that you
can't change. Try to take care of your feelings by
being disciplined and not taking things too seriously.
The hold of the immediate situation makes it harder
to keep perspective. The future is bright, today has
hope, it just requires hard work to materialize our
true potential.
