AUGUST 2007 by Bob Mulligan

We have many decisions to make during August of 2007. We can just let things happen to us, or we can be creative and make deep, personal changes. Every personal planet enjoys freer movement than it has experienced during the last few months; we should not underestimate our own ability to make profound transformations right now. Of course, Saturn (Lord of Karma, the eternal gate keeper) is finishing his long transit through Leo (sign of our center); this can signify your personal ego, your soul, God, so the question emerges, “What is at the center of your life?” Your progress now is determined by how you answer this question.

Mars leaves Taurus for Gemini on the 7th; at last our energy is free to express itself in a colorful, immediate manner; after six weeks of frustrating slow movement and growth our desires emerge untethered.

Venus (which is retrograde all month) backs into Leo on the 8th, encouraging us to see how we create our pattern of relationships. As we progress in consciousness we see that relationships are the way we have of achieving harmony within, and that we, in fact, create them even when we are doing it completely unconsciously. Now is the time to assess how and why we do this. If you don’t like the food that is coming, try to grasp how you are ordering off the menu.

The New Moon is on August 12th at 7:03 PM EDT. This is a profound time to meditate within the confines of one’s own heart. At one level of our awareness now we are struggling to burst the illusion that our salvation or happiness lies within something or someone else. At another level, it is an opportunity to revisit decisions and circumstances of the last year (reflected in the Neptune Saturn Opposition.) This New Moon ushers in a period of retrospection lasting until the next New Moon; our character, emotional needs, mental judgments, and our pursuit of happiness are all up for examination. For the truly aware, this can be a time of deep personal analysis. For the less conscious, this will merely be a time of frustrating compromises and setbacks.

Mercury (Planet of the mind, reason, and movement) is traveling at a blistering pace all month covering almost 2 degrees a day (from the 23 degree of Cancer to the 22 degree of Virgo). This indicates a time where we have an opportunity to reform, shape, and examine our fundamental reasoning process. Between the 13th and the 19th we have a unique opportunity to link the head and the heart and to understand and transform some fundamental aspect of our emotional expression. This is indicated by a series of aspect patterns that Mercury participates in just before passing into Virgo.

On the 23rd the Sun goes into Virgo allowing us to concentrate on work, procedures, and responsibilities in a more proficient manner. This is a time for sharpening the saw more than cutting down the tree.

The Full Moon Eclipse is on August 28th at 6:35 AM EDT. Our perspective changes and we are more focused on the functioning of external details in our lives. For the spiritual aspirant, this is a time to examine the mental apparatus and look at how decisions are made. With six planets mutable (mental) and four planet fixed (emotional), we do best to make changes internally before acting. There are no cardinal (physical) planets at the time of the Eclipse; or for that matter, most of the month.

From the 1st to the 5th we are fighting a battle within ourselves. We are under incredibly lucky circumstances and so much is available. Choose where to put your attention carefully; confidence, self honesty, and realism do a dance. Get them balanced correctly and the sky is the limit.

From the 6th to the 12th we clear a pathway to a new type of creativity. To make the most of this week we must be able to carry out two agendas in tandem; we have to continue with slow stable progress on well trod ground focusing on practical results, and we need to open up to new viewpoints. We have the opportunity to both express some new ideas and to hear worthwhile considerations.

From the 13th to the 19th – This is a week of separating illusion from reality. Our loves and our creativity give us stability and meaning as many things we have held as dear to our heart can be seen as empty promises. We may be waking up to our real life now. Bring together your mental and emotional lives.

From the 20th to the 26th – There is a great exchange of ideas but it is easy to exaggerate the importance of new and competing scenarios. Be methodical and honor your past efforts. Be careful what you promise.

From the 27th to the 31st – Drama and intensity build all week and so much energy can be expelled eulogizing about the circumstances in your own life. The feeling of immediacy is an illusion. Let things naturally come to conclusion and be willing to wait on the things that are not done. Some practical details are a few weeks away from completion.

1st – Wednesday – Sun Parallel Mars, Mercury Sesquiquadrate Jupiter, Mars Quincunx Pluto – We roar into August with tremendous energy. We focus on trying to clarify values. Friends can be made along the way even though we have to act on our own at times.

2nd – Thursday – Sun Trine Jupiter, Mercury Contra-parallel Jupiter, Mercury Semi-sextile Saturn, Mercury Quincunx Pluto – Big changes of mental attitude can bring immediate results. Maintain a positive outlook and go for the “big win.” There is so much opportunity, overcome self doubt and take a chance.

3rd – Friday – Mercury Sextile Mars – Now is the time to harvest the fruit of long standing projects. Express your thoughts and take what is yours.

4th – Saturday – Sun Sesquiquadrate Pluto, Mercury enters Leo, Venus Contra-parallel Uranus – Strengthen your inner resolve and eliminate everything you can’t assimilate. “Shift or get off the planet.”

5th – Sunday – Mercury Semi-sextile Venus – Start stitching together the various pieces of your life. Many diverse projects can reach completion by combining them. It is a good day for pleasantries. Communications work well as long as the focus is on achieving immediate, practical results. Emotions run hot and cold; you do best to remain in the middle of the road.

6th – Monday – Mercury Sesquiquadrate Uranus, Saturn Trine Pluto, Jupiter turns direct – We suddenly turn over a new mental leaf. If you have done your homework correctly, this is a time of insight and accomplishment. Conversation favors the most practical concerns taking center stage.

7th – Tuesday – Sun Contra-parallel Pluto, Mars enters Gemini, Venus Squares Mars – Love can’t be understood but it can be experienced. Self-absorption and mental agitation can bring disappointment; lighthearted acceptance of current circumstances leads to peace.

8th – Wednesday – Venus enters Leo – A few well placed, gracious words can open doors. Avoid making major decisions if it could potentially eliminate any of your key relationships. Healthy past relationships may return and we do best to recognize them.

9th – Thursday – Mercury Parallel Mars, Mercury Trine Jupiter – So much can be accomplished by the force of positive thoughts alone. Sell your products and merchandise with confidence. Tell the truth and you will be amazed at the results.

10th – Friday – Mercury Sesquiquadrate Pluto, Sun Quincunx Uranus – The status quo is history. Today we are thinking and acting in bigger and more profound ways. Emotional energy is powerful. Keep your mouth closed unless you are willing to take significant steps to get closure with important people.

11th – Saturday – We are feeling more competitive than normal today. Some risks are necessary in order to improve your situation. Taking a leap forward is fun and is actually fairly safe.

12th – Sunday – Sun Contra-parallel Neptune, then the New Moon at 7:03PM EDT – Meditating today can bring you in tune with the inner aspect of your nature. This is the time to become more heart centered. We struggle to see clearly what our direction is, but this is a time of standing still. Relax.

13th – Monday – Mercury Quincunx Uranus, Sun Opposite Neptune, Venus Conjunct Saturn – Cautious steps are taken as we translate deeply held emotions into actions. Practical concerns have to resonate with higher values in order to catch our attention.

14th – Tuesday – Mercury Contra-parallel Pluto, Mercury Opposite Neptune –You can find inspiration in your own life; other people’s stories carry you away from the things that you need to do now.

15th – Wednesday – Venus Trine Pluto, Sun Conjunct Mercury – Take bold steps; passion powers our moves and the world unfolds in front of us. We have to clear our path in order to see the really important things that are coming our way.

16th – Thursday – Mercury Contra-parallel Neptune – New thoughts emerge. We are all looking at the things we want most and reaching out with our imagination to see if they are appropriate. It is a day of dreaming.

17th – Friday – Mercury Conjunct Venus, Venus Contra-parallel Uranus, Mercury Trine Pluto, Sun Parallel Saturn, Sun Conjunct Venus – It is a romantic, artistic, and productive day. Speak with authority and listen with your heart. So many misunderstandings, as well as long standing projects, can be cleared up quickly.

18th – Saturday – Mercury Conjunct Saturn – Single-minded focus brings a sense of accomplishment. Agreements are not so easy to reach but they do have permanence.

19th – Sunday – Mercury Parallel Saturn, Mercury enters Virgo, Sun Trine Pluto – Tap into your positive use of will and keep your mind focused on practical results. It is possible to reignite enthusiasm for an old project today. Be willing to eliminate the things that don’t fit in to your life now.

20th – Monday – Sun Parallel Mercury – Commitment to personal ideals can strengthen the connection to your true responsibilities. Drive yourself to restate the simple truths that you embrace.

21st – Tuesday – Sun Conjunct Saturn – Finish works in progress; avoid starting anything new; be patient and avoid worry. Keep your attention on the big picture.

22nd – Wednesday – We are in a lucky cycle and the smart person can see the real opportunity and will be willing to jump in immediately. Insight and creativity are at a highpoint. Express yourself.

23rd – Thursday – Sun enters Virgo, Mars Opposite Jupiter – Make up your mind and be willing to stick to your decisions even as you keep your ears tuned for new information. This is a competitive moment as people’s natural optimism and enthusiasm prompts you to put forward your best effort. You may find resources you didn’t know you had.

24th – Friday – Mercury Square Jupiter – Check your facts; flamboyant assertions can spell trouble. While conversing, observe your pattern of expectations. Listen, think, plan, but be very careful about making commitments.

25th – Saturday – Mercury Square Mars, Venus Opposite Neptune – It is easy to become frustrated; it is difficult to have our wishes and expressions match each other. It is hard to say what we mean. Relationships can take a beating if you try to accomplish much in your usual manner. Pace yourself; there is a different rhythm present right now.

26th – Sunday – It’s possible to establish a lot of good things quickly. A way to achieve satisfaction comes as unexpected opportunities suddenly present themselves.

27th – Monday – Mercury Parallel Venus – Let the people you care about the most know your true feelings. Invest time framing conversations, contracts, and objectives.

28th – Tuesday – The Full Moon Eclipse is at 6:35AM EDT, Mars Contra-parallel Jupiter, Mercury Opposite Uranus, then Mercury Contra-parallel Uranus – We are in an information overload. People may seem preoccupied, demanding, or just self absorbed. Meditation can be very charged and productive today; work may be complicated. Stay on task and complete necessary responsibilities.

29th – Wednesday – Mercury Semi-sextile Venus – Issues between people can find resolution and a well turned phrase can bring closure to troubling circumstances. Practical insights can be conveyed with some artistry.

30th – Thursday – Mercury Quincunx Neptune – Swift paced decisions follow one after the other. Long term solutions are still a ways away but some immediate fixes to difficulties are available.

31st – Friday – Express your artistic feelings and be willing to try something new. Be willing to include a few different people into your social life.
