DECEMBER
2001 by Bob Mulligan
This year holiday
celebrations may seem a little muted as this world has had its share
of difficulties in the last period. However, with Jupiter (planet
of ritual and ceremony in Cancer (sign of tradition and family)
many ideas and celebrations from days gone by will be in the front
of people's minds again. Nostalgia is always big at Christmas time,
but this year especially. Collectively, we are starting to realize
how much the world has changed. This is usually a time of looking
back and re-evaluating the year. Now we all are more in a mood to
look back and examine our whole life so far. December 2001 really
highlights our growing personal awareness of stress between our
fears and our need to change. Between the 1st and the 8th, as the
Sun transits the middle of Sagittarius, conjuncts Saturn and opposes
Pluto, the big changes in the world have a way of becoming intensely
personal.
On the 8th,
Mars moves into Pisces. Our moods calm down as the energy shifts
from trying to accomplish everything now to a wait and see attitude.
We are in a dreamier state. The 10th brings Uranus into Sextile
with Mercury. New ideas abound. If we are willing to take some chances
important goals can be achieved quickly. Be willing to adopt a new
approach to life. Patience with ourselves and with others is necessary
on the 12th as we are confronted with things in our lives we wish
were different. We can't change others but we can always do something
about ourselves.
The New Moon
on the 14th at 3:48pm is an eclipse. Now can be a time of profound
meditation. This same day we see an amplification of the two feminine
symbols, Venus and The Moon, as they each transit Pluto, Lord of
transformation. We are in a more receptive mood now. Thus, any preparations
for a more balanced and more secure life are likely to be beneficial
now. We are encouraged to take a long view of our values as this
occurs in Sagittarius, sign of our higher mind.
On 17th Venus
and Jupiter are contra-parallel. Home, the familiar, and family
pull against the urge to be free and to produce. This is a lucky
time if we choose our direction wisely. It's a great day to reorganize
priorities.
On the 19th
Venus is in aspect to both Uranus and Neptune. Our vision of love
and beauty may be altered. Our inspiration of the moment may prompt
us toward a higher level of understanding. Our love nature is more
open now. We can recognize beauty in unusual things and in the distant
places today. We have opportunity for immediate results on the 21st
if we allow our enthusiasm to propel us forward. Today common sense
and luck seem to be linked as the Sun crosses into Capricorn. This
is the winter solstice. The shortest day of the year. The well trod
path is favored.
Caution is the
keynote on the 22nd as we strive to gain balance. Strife and fighting
can occur at many levels of our lives today. We all work to align
our need for reason with current tasks. A certain nervousness underlies
all that happens.
23rd Mercury
opposite Jupiter. Wisdom against immediate experience. Will the
higher mind win out or will we pursue our attractions of the moment?
We make progress if we aren't too stuck in "worn out" sentiments
from our past. Emotions run over the top on the 24th as Jupiter
trines Mars. We are driven to be our best. Lots of energy so we
should be sure that our direction is well chosen.
On the 28th
the Sun Semi-Squares Uranus. We make corrections. These may be little
or these may be a real change in direction. The 29th is best spent
writing, talking, and letting others know how your life is going.
It's a good time to "clean house". Get rid of things you no longer
need.
At 5:42am EST
on the 30th, we have our Full Moon. It's an Eclipse. This is always
an important time to meditate. In addition to the usual crescendo
of energy, Mars and Pluto, Gods of War and Transformation are in
hard aspect with each other. This is an intense day with a threat
of danger boiling over into violence. Immediate decisions catapult
us into a new arena. We all tend to fight for what we genuinely
feel is right. What a wonderful world it is when we can assert ourselves
without harming others.
Good communications
and last minute messages can have us altering our plans on New Years
Eve. Home and family can look mighty inviting today. See you next
year.
