DECEMBER 2006 by Bob Mulligan

Although this December has its own challenges, it is certainly a much lighter month than we have had for a very long time. Every year the Sun moves from Scorpio to Sagittarius in the third week of November. This year, however, this movement from the underworld of Scorpio to the high flights of Sagittarius is punctuated by many planets making this same migration around this same time. Over a two week period of time we have a build up of six planets in Sagittarius. With the Moon and Saturn in Leo we have a few days with eight planets in Fire signs. Since fire is the element of essential passion, enthusiasm, and self will; for good or ill, we should see tremendous extroverted energy manifesting. Since Pluto has now come to the Galactic center (place of universal focus) on the 26th degree of Sagittarius, we have a powerful release of this expansive, universalizing, and powerful energy. The general tone of our December is one of hope, reckless abandon, and moral assertion.

December begins with Pluto, Venus, the Sun, and Jupiter already in Sagittarius to be joining Mars and Mercury within a few days. So we end up with six planets all in Sagittarius (Sign of Expansion). Everything is pulled into motion and we end up having a ton of new opportunities. People will tend to overspend during this December because Jupiter encourages us to “roll the dice and hope for the best.”

On Monday the 4th we have the Full Moon at 7:26 PM EST – Think seriously about what you really want and be prepared to make changes. As the Sun (Ego) and Moon (emotional needs) oppose each other, Uranus sits halfway between them asking us to “split the difference.” The Full Moon is always a powerful time for meditation but the addition of Uranus gives a feeling of uniqueness and immediacy which may force world circumstances, as well as our personal lives, in a new direction. This T-Square takes place in mutable signs which are evaluative, learned, but indecisive. You will do something brand new at this time or suffer the consequences of being stuck in your past habit patterns of being spontaneous at the wrong moment or for the wrong reason. Your higher intelligence is quite in tune with the divine plan and knows how to move you in that direction. The point is we are offered a chance to correct our steps; but knowing what to change requires honesty, faith, and focus. Health requires renewal.

Wednesday the 20th we have the New Moon at 9:01 AM EST. Correctly aligned with your own center of gravity, you are able to set your sights on a true goal, even if it is very far away. It is a trick to be able to jump across oceans of reason and follow your own true intuition. If you demand certitude for every step of the way before beginning your journey, you will never leave home. Harmony and structure create the path of discipline leading toward the higher goal.

From the 1st to the 3rd we are looking for reasons to explain some of our recent decisions. We are moving so fast even our intellect can’t really keep up. Rebellion and confusion can make it hard to chart a course and we may find ourselves navigating by “dead reckoning.” This weekend is very exciting and many different levels of life are on the move; change is happening without conscious choice.

From the 4th to the 10th we are flying so fast that we can’t make many distinctions. This can be disquieting but if you stay in a light hearted mood, you will enjoy this time very much. We can’t really hold on to security and even safety is also sacrificed now. But we can have excitement and new opportunities.

The 11th to the 17th we are confident, assertive and passionate. If you are pragmatic and disciplined much can be accomplished. While diplomacy is a good thing, in order to achieve your goals you need to act alone and with resilient energy.

From the 18th the 24th will be a time of opportunities and reversals. A new vision of hope and possibilities develops as we have the last New Moon of the year just before the Sun crosses into Capricorn.

The 25th to the 31st is a time of grasping for either new visions of the future or new strategies for achieving goals. We make attempts to manifest aspects of our dreams. This is an imaginative week and it is great time of forging new relationships that have substance.

1st – Friday – We are in a hurry but self-discipline is the key to making this a joyful day. Our dreams are picking up substance and manifesting.

2nd – Saturday – Mercury Parallel Pluto – Enthusiasm is strong but today favors working with slow and methodical steps. Being thorough is the ticket to seeing results.

3rd – Sunday – Sun Square Uranus – Interruptions come as a matter of course; nine out of ten disturbances are an obstacle, the remaining one is a real opportunity. See the joy and accept the challenge.

4th – Monday – Mars Parallel Jupiter, Mercury Square Saturn, then the Full Moon is at 7:26 PM EST – There is nervousness in the air and much excitement. An attitude of caution coupled with steady activity keep us on a stable course of action. When in doubt, examine your intentions. Recognize that many necessary events in your life can’t be controlled; so, observe the flow of activity and just enjoy the ride.

5th – Tuesday – Mercury Semi-sextile Pluto, Saturn Retrograde, Mars enters Sagittarius – Understanding other people’s hidden agendas allows you to see beyond the surface and to act with more certitude. There is so much more going on than is evident.

6th – Wednesday – Family and emotional life absorb our attention. This is an opportunity to heal important areas of our lives by implementing a new perspective.

7th – Thursday – Venus Trine Saturn, Venus Conjunct Pluto – Rely on trusted friends and keep your eye on your current goals; see if you can do this without sacrificing harmony. You may be really lucky and see the larger implications of your heart’s desire for the first time.

8th – Friday – Mercury enters Sagittarius – Believe in life, God, and in yourself. Have fun, this is a truly unique opportunity to explore new inner horizons.

9th – Saturday – Sun Sextile Neptune, Mercury Conjunct Mars – Allow the widest possible reach for your flights of fancy. Believe in everything but keep an eye on your enthusiasm. If you cross the line into fanaticism it will show up as moralizing, angry, and with extreme attitudes toward others. If you find yourself wanting to tell everyone how things ought to be, watch out, you may be headed for trouble.

10th – Sunday – Mercury Conjunct Jupiter, Mercury Parallel Jupiter – Our thoughts have wings and we sail to unknown destinations in our mind. Plan but be very careful as to what you commit yourself to. The truly lucky person is the one who knows what to ask for.

11th – Monday – Venus enters Capricorn, Mars Conjuncts Jupiter – Your actions bring more positive results if you have consensus before you start your day. Harmony allows you to correctly channel your energy.

12th – Tuesday – Beautiful theories have to conform to the practicalities of everyday life to be useful. Concentrate on necessities without surrendering your priorities.

13th – Wednesday – Venus Semi-square Neptune, Mercury Parallel Mars – It is a time of new beginnings. Test the ground under your feet before you start jumping for joy, then let the adventure begin.

14th – Thursday – Venus Semi-sextile Jupiter – Make new professional contacts and extend the scope of your pre-existing network. We can all be successful by helping each other today.

15th – Friday – Mercury Square Uranus – Anger can surface all around you. Check your own pulse then recognize that you need your own space and others may not be able to hear what you have to offer up. Regardless of other circumstances, you can still listen; you will be surprised what virtue will come from this.

16th – Saturday – Sun Trine Saturn – Stability comes through self reliance and confidences. Stay in a cheerful mood and focus your attention on the task at hand even while you are thinking about the unfoldment of events in the future.

17th – Sunday – Venus Semi-sextile Mars – Understanding comes by putting relationships on a practical foundation. Focus on common ground and achievable goals.

18th – Monday – Sun Conjunct Pluto, Venus Sesquiquadrate Saturn – We can be very temped to “act out” today as we uncover things about ourselves that we may not care to look at. This is, however, a golden opportunity to free yourself from bindings and descriptions from the past.

19th – Tuesday – Mercury Sextile Neptune, Venus Sextile Uranus – Traditional methods and usual procedures take a back seat as the day belongs to the unusual and unique. Be creative and give yourself permission to express your creativity.

20th – Wednesday – New Moon at 9:01 AM EST, Sun Parallel Mercury – Meditate. It is possible to set something in motion that will alter your own consciousness permanently. Be willing to grasp the higher significance of events now.

21st – Thursday – Mars Square Uranus, Sun enters Capricorn – Explosive energy and excitable people keep things on edge. Channel your energy toward trustworthy ends and you will be amazed at how fast you are able to manifest results.

22nd – Friday – Mercury Parallel Venus – Circumstances are not easy for communicating your needs to others; also, people close to you aren’t always able to convey their thoughts clearly. Dialogue helps keep your friends and family in tune with each other. Be careful with commitments and don’t take on other people’s responsibilities. A carefully delineated boundary illuminates your current situation.

23rd – Saturday – Detachment is the proper response to the excitement of the day. True love emerges out of the most ordinary circumstances.

24th – Sunday – Mercury Trine Saturn, Sun Semi-square Neptune – Focus on your most basic ideals. Self-discovery and clear communications propel us toward a better world. You have to believe that things can get better in order to be part of the solution.

25th – Monday – Venus Semi-sextile Neptune, Sun Parallel Venus, Mercury Conjunct Pluto – When you look deep enough, the world reveals an important universal truth. Every event demonstrates some moral lesson.

26th – Tuesday – Be at peace. This is a time to dream. If you can relax and take the day off, this is the perfect time to just stay unfocused and be passive. See what emerges in your consciousness.

27th – Wednesday – Mercury enters Capricorn – Ideas take a practical twist and we are able to bring our most immediate tangible desires forward. Getting “in sync” with others requires being true to your own perceptions. Creativity and practicality are married to each other.

28th – Thursday – Venus Parallel Mars – Romantic impulses have a certain clarity. We are attracted to things, people, and circumstances that have the ability to improve our lives.

29th – Friday – Venus Semi-square Jupiter, Sun Semi-sextile Jupiter, Mercury Semi-square Neptune – Too much of a good thing can be troublesome. We can be confused trying to make a rational choice. When confronted with many good things, choose the thing which represents your most lasting value.

30th – Saturday – Sun Parallel Mars, Venus Quincunx Saturn – A big burst of energy lifts us out of our current pattern. We have lots of enthusiasm but we have difficulty expressing our desires in a healthy manner. We confront old patterns of limitation; we want to communicate our feelings but they aren’t always very clear, even to ourselves. When in doubt do nothing. It all gets easier soon.

31st – Sunday – Sun Sesquiquadrate Saturn, Mars Sextile Neptune – We end the year with either fear or faith taking the lead in life. We are able to interact in such a positive way if we are in a party mood. This is a great party night and the dancing is wonderful.
