JUNE 2007 by Bob Mulligan

As the Sun crosses the summer solstice point on the 21st of June, we make the transition from spring to summer. Consequently, June always demarcates a change in our pattern of needs as we seek adjustment to new circumstances in the world as the dynamic creative energy of spring relaxes into the easy acceptance of the lazy summer energy. This year we have Mercury turning Retrograde, Mars moving from Aries to Taurus, and the Saturn / Neptune Opposition; all of which gives emphasis to the movement from the outer struggle to the inner examination. The pace of life moves from fast and furious to slow and easy; this provides us opportunity to alter our goals or at least our conception of our world around us. This change in energy is necessary. If we move at the pace of a professional hockey player while the climate is dictating a casual game of golf, we are in for disappointment. This month is a gradual shift from rapid, intense, non-reflective driving forward to a slow, deliberate, pensive stepping toward a more tentative future.

Mercury turns Retrograde on June 15th. This is an especially problematic moment as we have a nostalgia for the past; hurts and bad memories can surface in tandem with a remembrance of people and things that are no longer with us. This has to be a time of release and renewal or your suffering increases if you attempt to hang on to the way things once were.

June 14th - New Moon 11:14PM EDT. The New Moon in Gemini is usually great stimulation to our mental body. This year, because of the Opposition of Pluto (Lord of the Unconscious) to the New Moon, we will be confronted with how our beliefs color our perceptions of the world. Mercury turning Retrograde tomorrow shows that we are working very diligently to revise our past perceptions. Meditate on clearing away the tyranny of worn out feelings from the past.

June 21st is the Summer Solstice as the Sun crosses from Gemini to Cancer. This is the longest day of the year in Northern Latitudes. We turn our attention to the creation of new forms. This is the beginning of a new cycle as we work to put our plants into smaller pots.

Mars enters Taurus on June 24th where he will be until August 7th. This time period finds us struggling to move in a new direction and it is a good reminder to work on preserving the decent things of the past. Sometimes forms can be maintained even as procedures are altered.

Saturn Opposite Neptune on June 25th is the third and final opposition in this series. Saturn (Lord of Discipline) is challenging Neptune (King of Illusion). The struggle to find out what is real intensifies. The next several years in the world economy will be profoundly affected by this moment. We spend time building a new vision of our world based on abandoning the impractical.

30th is the Full Moon at 9:50AM EDT. We have a time of meditating and bringing things to fruition. This particular Full Moon in Cancer is a time of gathering up the things from the past that are good and worthy and saving them. This is a moment for emotional renewal.

1st to the 3rd - A lucky feeling pushes us to move forward. Events swirl around us and the smart people move with the timing of the moment.

4th to the 10th – A spirit of rebellion encourages everyone to try something new. We are moving forward as a group even when we feel we are on our own. Competition with others around us encourages us to give more attention to what we are doing.

11th to the 17th – Hard work pays off. Every task requires extra effort but it is generally well directed and there is forward motion. Take extra precautions in your communication, take your time and don’t be afraid to ask people to repeat back to you what you have told them.

18th to the 24th – We have to let go of the past in order to fulfill our emotional needs. For most of us this will require exploring some aspect of how our habits developed. Instinctual urges are giving us clues to our past as we examine the connections between our circumstances and our desires.

25th to the 30th – We set aside unproductive ideas and surrender fantasies that have been futile. We are coming into a more realistic and productive period as we commence with a thorough “ground clearing.” Past oppositions and self limiting concepts can melt away under the heat of enthusiastic reasoning.

1st – Friday – This is a freewheeling, lucky day. Everything gets done in a grandiose style. We can take giant leaps forward.

2nd – Saturday – Mercury Semi-square Saturn – We experience a big slowdown as we navigate between impressions of what has to happen and what is.

3rd – Sunday –Venus Quincunx Pluto – Knowing what to let go of today is most important. Change and release.

4th – Monday – Mars Trine Jupiter, Mercury Sesquiquadrate Neptune – It is possible to make rapid progress by following familiar, well shorn grounds. Positive advancement can set new records.

5th – Tuesday –Venus Sesquiquadrate Jupiter, Venus enters Leo, Sun Parallel Venus Opposite Jupiter – We can reach way beyond our grasp today. We can suffer from going too far from our home base.

6th – Wednesday – Mars Contra-parallel Uranus – Explosive rebellious behavior can color our day with violent actions and reactions.

7th – Thursday – Expressions seem more alive with feelings today. If you feel misunderstood, take the time to clarify your intentions; others will come along if you remain patient and consistent.

8th – Friday – Venus Contra-parallel Jupiter – Happy feelings and artistic expression dominate the day. Sudden bursts of enthusiasm bring us to a high point.

9th – Saturday – Mars Semi-square Uranus, Venus Sesquiquadrate Uranus, Sun Square Uranus – A rapid turn of events brings people closer together and also separates them. New people enter and we find new feelings for old acquaintances.

10th – Sunday – Tempers can run hot and tremendous energy can be expended but, much can be accomplished quickly if you have singular focus.

11th – Monday – Sun Parallel Mercury, Sun Sextile Mars, Sun Sextile Saturn, Mars Trine Saturn – Hard work pays off but you have to be very sure of what you are doing before you start your activity.

12th – Tuesday – We have many changes of pace today. There is a steady, even-tempered drive behind it all that keeps us moving forward.

13th – Wednesday – Sun Trine Neptune, Mars Sextile Neptune – It’s a day of faith, prayer, meditation, and focusing on our inner life. Artistic expression and romantic moments can be very strong right now. Photography and dancing are particularly beautiful now.

14th – Thursday – New Moon at 11:14PM EDT – It’s time to be logical and yet playful. We start a new cycle that gives us a chance to create something new. There is a meditative spiritual quality to the day.

15th – Friday –Mercury turns Retrograde, Mercury Contra-parallels Jupiter – Our thoughts turn toward the many incomplete writings and separated communications in our lives. We outline our next period of work.

16th – Saturday – Pleasant, restful thoughts and feelings dominate the day. Something brand new can emerge from the tranquility and we find our joy in ordinary things.

17th – Sunday – Mercury Semi-sextile Venus – This is a lovely time to get cozy with our loved ones. We can find joy in our home and with our family.

18th – Monday –Sun Semi-square Venus – Great ideas emerge from nowhere. We can be very creative if we are able to harness an underlying nervousness.

19th – Tuesday – Sun Opposite Pluto, Venus Sesquiquadrate Pluto, Venus Trine Jupiter – Most importantly, keep your spirit light and shake off any desire to hold others accountable for what they do. Free yourself to pursue your own happiness.

20th – Wednesday – Energy builds toward a frenetic pace. The victory goes to the one who has concentrated on the most important details, and let the rest go.

21st – Thursday – Mars Trine Pluto, Sun enters Cancer, Mars Sesquiquadrate Jupiter – We are destined to do something today. Too much energy is present to do nothing. Our emotions are riding every decision and we are lucky if we are able to direct this momentary enthusiasm into long range goals.

22nd – Friday – We struggle to correct past mistakes. We do best if we acknowledge our current difficulties and self correct. Allow others grand latitude to keep doing whatever they are doing even if it is wrong.

23rd – Saturday – Uranus turns Retrograde – We develop contingency plans as we see opportunities to cash in on the moment. People are more accommodating and gracious than normal; this is also a great time to strengthen our romantic relationships and move them to a higher level of manifestation.

24th – Sunday – Mars enters Taurus – Underlying tensions can present us with terribly uncomfortable situations. We are happiest in the long run if we are able to keep in motion. The danger here is to become too sedentary in which case you will feel displeasure with yourself; others will think of you as intransient or oblivious. Stay moving and keep listening to others.

25th – Monday – Saturn Opposite Neptune – Illusions disappear and we see the facts, but only some of them. Avoid making irreversible decisions on important issues today. The picture will look less gloomy in a few weeks.

26th – Tuesday – Venus Contra-parallel Pluto, Venus Quincunx Uranus – Our primary expression of love and beauty is in for a fundamental makeover today. Emotions are all over the map. Pleasure comes through synthesis of many various factors in the environment and inside our own soul.

27th – Wednesday – Planning for the future and taking care of immediate necessities will occupy our time. Our mind is excited but it is sometimes difficult to see where our concentration needs to go.

28th – Thursday – Mercury Semi-square Jupiter, Mercury Sesquiquadrate Neptune, Sun Sesquiquadrate Neptune – It’s an imaginative and lucky day. Our perceptions can be quite different; doing ordinary things is difficult, doing extraordinary things is commonplace.

29th – Friday – Sun Semi-square Saturn, Mars Semi-square Uranus – We back up, regroup, and then embark on a different course of action. We are happiest today if we remain flexible and spontaneous. Reveal your thought process to others even if you keep changing your mind; as circumstances change so will your choices.

30th – Saturday – Full Moon at 9:50AM, Venus Opposite Neptune – Creative energy is seldom ever stronger than right now. Intuitive visions of what needs to be done are really helpful for us to get into contact with our own true desires.
