MAY
2003 by Bob Mulligan
test
May
is really active this year. First, Mercury is retrograde
until the 20th meaning that virtually the whole time
that the Sun is in the practical, thorough, foundational,
and sensual sign of Taurus, we are in a recapitulative
mode of thought. Second, eclipses are generally turbulent,
(too much energy going into the system) and during
May we have two of them. We have a Lunar Eclipse on
the 15th and a Solar Eclipse on the 30th. This is
big. Third, we have an emphasis on Mars, Jupiter,
and Neptune, encouraging us to step out and take risks.
Taking care of business, planning, and healing old
wounds are common threads throughout the whole month.
The New Moon always sets the tone for the coming lunar
or synodic month (29.53 days). May this year contains
two new moons. Our first New Moon is on the 1st; it
sets a tone of growth, reevaluation, and practical
expansion lasting until the very end of the month.
The first two weeks of the month are great for building
on past successes and finding practical applications
to past ideas. The last half of the month is great
for settling old disputes, straightening out communications
and creating something new.
1st
- Thursday - Mercury Quincunx Pluto, New Moon at 8:16am
EDT at 10 Taurus. Sun Semi-square Saturn. We experience
a wild enthusiasm to start new projects. All of our
pre-existing tools are in place and ready to be engaged
on something. Innovation is called for, but hard to
reach.
2nd
- Friday - Venus sextile Neptune, Mercury parallel
Jupiter. Confidence drives our energy now. We have
the feeling we should be concentrate on practical
matters, but business concerns take a back seat to
art, romance, and friendship.
3rd
- Saturday - Sun Square Neptune. Faith prompts us
to take steps today. However, we struggle for our
higher vision of the way life can be while stuck in
an environment of our lives that can seem common by
comparison.
4th
- Sunday - Moon opposite Pluto. Old wounds can come
back to haunt us now. Decisions are being made. Some
options are no longer open to us.
5th
- Monday - The Moon conjuncts Saturn, Mercury semi-sextiles
Venus, and Venus semi-squares Uranus. Coming back
to earth today we make compromises to keep moving
forward.
6th
- Tuesday - Moon Sextile Sun and Mercury. - Peace
settles over us. We feel more settled and comfortable
now than we have for a while. It is possible to make
a realistic self-appraisal now.
7th
- Wednesday -Sun conjuncts Mercury and Mercury contra-parallels
Neptune. Sun parallels Mercury, Venus trines Pluto.
Sun contra-parallels Neptune. We see our vision ignite
if we have hung on to our higher perception of what
we can do.
8th
- Thursday - Mars opposite Jupiter. Great enthusiasm
but tension can be present as many people jockey for
position. Emotional pressure needs a positive outlet.
9th
- Friday - Moon parallels Jupiter and Sun. With fits
and starts we jump forward on things we have been
long awaiting. Working in groups is harder today.
You know what you have to do, so do it.
10th
- Saturday - Sun quincunx Pluto. Many of us are caught
with many options and so little time. Oh well, we
make the best decisions we can. Limit the scope of
your work today and you will accomplish more. Re-evaluate.
What is really important?
11th
- Sunday -Moon trine Mercury and the Sun. It's a time
to heal old wounds and to get completion, settle misunderstanding.
12th
- Monday - Mercury Square Neptune. - A lot is going
on and it's very hard to tell the truth from the wishful
thinking. This can be a time of grandiose thinking.
If you get a brilliant insight, wait a few days to
put it into action.
13th
- Tuesday - Mercury Square Mars. Now is not the time
to get angry or pick a fight. Try to fathom your own
contradictions. It's how we grow.
14th
- Wednesday - Mercury semi-square Saturn, Venus sextile
Saturn, Mars conjunct Neptune. Our higher idealism
will pull on us strongly today. Do your best to be
in a creative mood. Obey the rules then follow your
heart.
15th
- Thursday. - Mercury contra-parallels Pluto. Neptune
turns retrograde. Full Moon and total eclipse at 11:37
PM at 24 Taurus/Scorpio. We all participate at some
level today in world events. This is the Buddhist
Wesak festival and a time of renewal. Praying for
world peace is very potent on this Full Moon. At the
practical level, examining your financial situation
may be important. The world is in a re-evaluative
pattern right now.
16th-
Friday - Venus enters Taurus. We become more comfortable
and less frenetic. Slowing down to enjoy life is really
called for now.
17th
- Saturday - The Moon Conjuncts Pluto. A voice from
the past finds us now. Without much effort it is possible
to find a wider perspective for dealing effectively
with the past.
18th
- Sunday - Mars contra-parallel Jupiter, Venus sextile
Uranus. Our past and our future meet for a moment.
It is possible to see clearly where we are going.
19th
- Monday - Venus contra-parallel Uranus and Sun Semi-Sextile
Saturn, Venus Sesquiquadrate Pluto, Mercury Squares
Jupiter. We make plans and commitments today. Be prepared
to make some sudden leaps forward.
20th
- Tuesday - Saturn Sesquiquadrate Neptune. Mercury
turns direct. We get a real chance to get ahead of
the game today. Catch up on anything overdue. It may
be possible to blend ideas, people, and plans so that
everyone wins.
21st
- Wednesday - Sun enters Gemini. Mercury parallels
Venus, Moon conjuncts Mars. Levity comes to us today.
Communication is important and it is possible to hammer
out long-term agreements. Faith in one's self and
in the future can be the basis for positive relationships.
22nd
- Thursday - Moon Parallels Neptune then enters Pisces.
It's a dreamy day. Be willing to soar to new heights
or just relax and watch the world go by.
23rd
- Friday - Mercury square Jupiter. Several decisions
made in the last two weeks will be up for a second
look today. Take the time to rethink and prioritize.
Your values may be changing.
24th
- Saturday - Sun squares Uranus, Venus contra-parallels
Pluto. Okay, there is a lot of nervous energy around
today. You may be able to harness it if you are patient.
25th
- Sunday - Mars sextile Pluto. This is a visionary
day. Be willing to solve problems as they come up.
Emotional extremes color events.
26th
- Monday - Venus square Jupiter. Mercury conjunct
Venus. "You can't have your cake and eat it too",
but you can have a really good time. Don't be afraid
to ask for what you really want.
27th
- Tuesday - Venus square Neptune, Mercury square Neptune.
Venus semi-square Saturn. Today is good for meditation
and planning, not so good for action.
28th
- Wednesday - Moon conjunct Mercury and Venus. Talk
out problems. Solve them; it's really possible to
find tangible, practical answers.
29th
- Thursday - Mercury semi-square Saturn. Mars parallel
Neptune. Create. Today is good for singing, dancing,
photography. Express yourself or help someone else
do so.
30th
- Friday - New Moon at 12: 21PM EDT at 9 Gemini, its
an eclipse. A strong force is moving underneath. Big
breakthroughs in communications are possible if you
really try.
31st
- Saturday - Venus quincunx Pluto and Moon opposite
Pluto and semi-sextile Venus. There is a driven quality
today but definitely there is a lack of balance. Move
forward but don't press everything to the max.
