MAY 2007 by Bob Mulligan

May begins and ends with Full Moons. On the 2nd we have our Full Moon with Sun in Taurus and Moon in Scorpio at 6:10am EDT. This is the Wesak where people celebrate the return of the Buddha to earth for a time of revitalization. It is one of the most powerful meditation moments of the year.

We have Mars crossing into his own sign of Aries on the 15th, ushering in a period of personal restlessness and forward drive. We may find ourselves moving freer for the first time in five weeks.

Jupiter (King of the Gods) is in aspect to both Saturn (God of tradition and limitation) and Uranus (God of the infinite intelligence) making May a unique month. How we express our enthusiasm this month will lay a foundation for the rest of the year and with a personal harvest cycle in the fall.

May 6th is the second Jupiter Trine Saturn in a series of five that began in May and doesn’t end until November 2008. Yes it is quite rare for this aspect to take so much time. This is a stabilizing influence that helps us integrate the positive enthusiasm with the hard facts of the situation. May 10th gives us the second of three squares between Jupiter and Uranus. The first was in January and the last is in October. The collision of enthusiasm and rebellion will provoke some sparks.

The New Moon on the 16th is at 26 degrees of Taurus at 3:29pm EDT, bringing us an opportunity to overcome long standing obstacles. It is not necessary to understand everything to move forward at this time. Now is the time of planting seeds.

On Monday the 21st the Sun enters Gemini – We switch from focusing on our emotionally based concerns to emphasizing our mental connections. Potentially, this can become a more playful time of the year but, with a strong influence from the south node of the moon in Virgo, we can be easily pulled into obsessing on details. Talk less and listen more.

On the 31st we have the Full Moon in Gemini/Sagittarius at 9:04 pm EDT. This is a joyful time of fun and personal growth. We want to reach out in every direction and we feel lucky. Have faith and stay aligned with your own values.

From May 1st (Tuesday) until May 6th (Sunday) – Business is good but personal relationships are stressed. It’s best to emphasize measurable accomplishments and external rewards during this week. The energy is very intense but can be channeled toward something very positive; don’t take any challenge to your authority personally.

From May 7th (Monday) until May 13th (Sunday) – This can be a tender week and a good time to focus on the needs of the family. There are some dynamic aspects that can be potentially quite destructive as we are all caught up in a desperate need to change; this is a reflection of our society’s need to move to a new level of cultural expression. Life is easiest by focusing on personal relationships and connections.

From May 14th (Monday) until May 20 (Sunday) – We focus our attention on personal goals and move with assurance and authority. We are energized and instinctively move in a new direction which is more conservative and more grounded.

From May 21st Monday until May 27th (Sunday) – Mental activity runs the gamut from foot loose and easy going, to hard driving and practical goal seeking. This can be an adventuresome time but you need to stay accountable for what you are doing.

From May 28th Monday until May 31st (Thursday) – We struggle all week to get free from our own reserve and fears. With luck we will be able to tell others what is really on our minds.

1st – Tuesday – Mars Parallel Uranus, Mercury Contra-parallel Neptune – A fast paced, intense day. Many passions can confuse the mind but if you are able to maintain an inner calmness, the energy can be harnessed to amazing, quick advancements. Get organized and stay focused.

2nd – Wednesday – The Full Moon with the Sun in Taurus and the Moon in Scorpio at 6:10am EDT, the Sun Conjuncts Mercury – Let your mind be still. News coming to you now will be more important than usual.

3rd – Thursday – Sun Parallel Mercury, Mercury Sesquiquadrate Pluto – We experience conflict because our common sense is at war with our higher aspirations. We want to do more than we are capable of at the moment. Stay practical.

4th – Friday – Mercury Contra-parallel Pluto, Sun Sesquiquadrate Pluto, Mercury Parallel Saturn, Mars Semi-sextile Neptune – Aim to be part of the solution today. Stubborn uncompromising people can sap the joy out of every interaction. The purpose of this energy is to corral and discipline our thoughts. Stay compassionate and understanding as the day unfolds.

5th – Saturday – Mercury Sextile Uranus, Mercury Square Saturn, Mercury Quincunx Jupiter, Sun Parallel Pluto – Take care of necessary correspondence. It is a good time for revising and editing what it is that you need to do. Your mind is fertile and many ideas from the past come back to give you inspiration. Solid insight and careful procedures bring results.

6th – Sunday – Jupiter Trine Saturn, Sun Parallel Saturn, Venus Opposite Pluto – We move forward with big plans but have conflict in our personal lives. Stay close to your given plan and do your best to stay emotionally relaxed.

7th – Monday – Mercury Square Neptune – We pierce the boundaries separating our mind from higher thoughts. We may become confused but if we stay grounded we gain new insight.

8th – Tuesday – Venus enters Cancer, Sun Sextile Uranus, Mercury Sextile Mars, Sun Quincunx Jupiter – Emotional energy is grounded enough that we can make some good things happen. Our vision stretches and we accommodate more people in our lives.

9th – Wednesday – Sun Square Saturn – Getting anyone’s approval may seem impossible today and we may be tempted to work in isolation. Stay connected with important people even if you feel somewhat cut off from the flow of their positive feelings.

10th – Thursday – Mercury Quincunx Pluto, Jupiter Square Uranus – Fly beneath the radar and don’t let distrust and suspicion stop you from exploring new frontiers. Excitement is just around the corner and some surprises make this an exciting day.

11th – Friday – Mercury enters Gemini, Venus Semi-square Saturn – We are able to express our thoughts with ease but our emotional life can feel a bit congested. Relax and compensate for any feelings of inadequacy that emerge.

12th – Saturday – Mercury Contra-parallel Jupiter, Sun Square Neptune – All things seem possible; it is a good time to ask for what you want. Be willing to wait. It takes time for some goals to be accomplished.

13th – Sunday – Mars Square Pluto – There is potential for violent feelings to erupt without much forethought. It is possible to find immediate solutions as difficulties emerge.

14th – Monday – Venus Sesquiquadrate Neptune, Mercury Semi-sextile Venus – Even though we may be overly sensitive today it is still a very good time for bonding, communicating thoughts and spending time with our family.

15th – Tuesday – Mars enters Aries – The picture becomes clearer and we are able to see more clearly. Tasks become easier and we receive more help because we are better able to ask for what we really want.

16th – Wednesday – The New Moon is at 26 degrees of Taurus at 3:29pm EDT – This is the time to plant the seeds of our true values for the year. What is put into motion now will manifest and bring results in the fall.

17th – Thursday – Take time to communicate your feelings to the most important persons in your life. Family, friends, and associates will appreciate your extra effort to communicate.

18th – Friday – Saturn Contra-parallel Pluto – In order to build a new structure we need to clear away the old. This will take time. We decide what stays and what goes.

19th – Saturday – Sun Quincunx Pluto – Do your job then relax and have a good time. Family and friends need your attention.

20th – Sunday – Mercury Opposite Jupiter, Mars Sesquiquadrate Saturn, Mercury Square Uranus – Even though real problems emerge there is a playfulness right now that keeps everything light. You accomplish a lot if you are able to stay calm without anger or reaction.

21st – Monday – Sun Enters Gemini, Mercury Sextile Saturn Mercury Parallel Venus – We change the level of dialogue now. It is possible to think and communicate in new ways. Approach old problems with new eyes and suggest ideas in a new manner.

22nd – Tuesday – Idealism runs high and our vision is colored by a hope for better circumstances. Physical energy can run low and it is important to pace yourself in all long term endeavors.

23rd – Wednesday – Mercury Trine Neptune, Venus Quincunx Jupiter – We can be overwhelmed by a magical sense of freedom. Emotional impulses override logic and true happiness comes through knowing when enough is enough.

24th – Thursday – Mars Semi-square Neptune, Neptune turns Retrograde - We need to give ourselves over to a higher cause in order to feel satisfied now. Frustration comes when you try to materialize personal desires.

25th – Friday – Venus Trine Uranus, Venus Semi-sextile Saturn – New people and new perspectives carry us in a different direction now. Innovation is real and immediate; integration is tedious and will emerge in time.

26th – Saturday – We are caught between the need for harmony and our own wish to do our own thing. Maintaining peace while accomplishing anything is really difficult; it will require continuous adjustment.

27th – Sunday – Mercury Opposite Pluto – Every direction looks overwhelming. It is better to make some progress on something rather than feeling overwhelmed and then being afraid to act.

28th – Monday – Venus Quincunx Neptune, Mercury enters Cancer – The past and the future come together and we are able to move forward by concentrating on the things that have worked in the past while not ignoring the uniqueness of our current situation.

29th – Tuesday – Sun Semi-square Venus – Our head and heart seem to be at odds with each other today. Progress comes by limiting the number of things we try to accomplish.

30th – Wednesday – Our feelings go the whole spectrum today from being very passionate to cold as ice. Our emotional reservoir has reached a spillover point. Nonverbal expression can convey more than words. Love can be expressed through cooking a meal.

31st – Thursday – Sun Contra-parallel Jupiter, then the Full Moon in Gemini/Sagittarius at 9:04 pm EDT – The power of your positive thoughts to manifest some good in the world has never been higher. “Throw caution to the wind” and be willing to take some risks.
