September 2022

September Highlights

From the 5th to the 23rd Mercury and Venus are in Mutual Reception.  Mercury analyzes, Venus synthesizes.  Throughout September we alternate between tearing things apart and reassembling them.  At times head and heart are at cross purposes, and at times they pull together. We each experience in microcosm this process of learning to work together.

On the 9th, hours before the Full Moon, Mercury turns Retrograde; we now have 6 planets moving backward, which emphasizes reflecting on the past.  Mercury in Libra is in Mutual Reception with Venus in Virgo, which favors self-examination.  On the 23rd, Retrograde Mercury moves back into Virgo right after Conjuncting the Sun.  This shows self-assuredness, but a necessity to stay clear on what details are important and what is superfluous.

The Sun Contra-parallels Neptune on the 13th then completes the Opposition to Neptune on the 16thThis whole week will test our ability to trust our intuition and instincts. We need to be inspired by others, and at the same time keep our feet on the ground.

On the 18th Mercury is Opposite Jupiter; later this same day he makes the Sesquiquadrate to Saturn; on the 19th he makes the Sesquiquadrate to Uranus. We have the opportunity to rethink our commitment to our espoused values. We can see the virtue in old-fashion methodologies while fearing unproven techniques that are spontaneously emerging.

On September 21st Jupiter will Semi-square Saturn.  This is the first real viability test of our collective vision of the future, put forward at the time of the Jupiter/Saturn Conjunction December 21st, 2020.

On the 29th Venus moves into Libra, then Parallels Retrograde Mercury in Virgo.  This signals a happy ending to a complicated month.

The Full Moon

The Full Moon on the 10th is at 5:58 AM EDT on 17 degrees and 41 minutes of Virgo/Pisces. Mercury Stations Retrograde just hours before the Full Moon. Mercury moving back in Libra is ponderous for sure, but Opposite Jupiter in Aries and Trine Mars in Gemini we are forced to make rapid decisions.

Neptune is Conjunct the Moon, Opposite the Sun, and Sextile Uranus. This is a dreamy combination and it is hard to hold our attention on the brutally practical.

The Sun enters Libra

The Sun enters Libra at 9:04 PM EDT on the 22nd. This is the Autumnal Equinox and this chart tells the story of life for the next three months.  In Washington, D.C., Uranus and the North Node of the Moon are on the Ascendant; governmental agencies will lack continuity and stability, but at the same time, we will see real innovation.  Pressure comes from friendly countries, as Uranus rules the 11th house in this chart.  The Moon makes a parallel to Uranus, then a Contra-parallel to Saturn before leaving Leo.  The separating Opposition of the Moon to Saturn is critical; we have just lived through the conflict of old vs. new, indicated by the closing Uranus/Saturn Square.  Sun/Mercury Opposite Jupiter indicates we are in a fortunate time period; common sense guides us to reach out and grab what is being offered.  The Uranus/Node Conjunction makes a soft aspect to Venus and Neptune, which oppose each other.  Amongst all the turbulence and strife, a symmetrical beauty is gathering strength in world culture.

The New Moon

The New Moon on the 25th is at 5:54 PM EDT at 2 degrees and 48 minutes of Libra.  The New Moon is Opposite Jupiter, emphasizing that luck is with us; an optimistic spirit can guide us through the next month.

Mercury Retrograde is Conjunct Venus in Mercury’s sign.  Both are Trine Pluto in Capricorn and Opposite Neptune in Pisces.  Success comes by being single-minded, practical, and unrelenting.   Mars in Gemini is Trine Saturn in Aquarius, and at the base of a T-square of the Venus/Mercury Opposite Neptune.  Words matter.  What we say and what we receive from others tells an important unfolding story of what our next adventure is all about.

The Weeks

From the 1st to the 4th momentum gathers for new enterprises.  Conversation sparks competition and everyone benefits through accelerated desires to achieve something special.  We must corral our attention or our curiosity will deplete our energy.

From the 5th to the 11th it’s a balancing act between love of detail and necessity to find order.  We cannot follow every conceivable opportunity or we never get closure.  Finishing what we start means being satisfied with less than perfection.  We need to ponder what we are doing, make corrections, and keep our train on the rails.

From the 12th to the 18th new insights help us recognize what we have already achieved.  Self-criticism has a place, but now is not the time.  We do what we can to satisfy disgruntled people in our lives, but some situations are not ripe to create harmony. We can solve problems through better communication when misunderstandings are to blame. More information is not necessarily better.  Filtering facts to get to the root of what is important allows us to find common ground.

From the 19th to the 25th bit by bit we peel away the veneer.   There can be some aha moments; it is easy to think we see clearly what is really going on.  Mostly we are lost in a hall of mirrors.  If we lose our central focus, useful knowledge will elude us.  Being proactive is necessary to forklift our situation out of a potential quagmire.  Humility and bravery are the virtues to see us through.

From the 26th to the 30th mental turbulence can be distressing. Still, not having all the answers allows us to act tentatively.  Course correction is possible if we keep an open mind.  Hard work is necessary, but we do receive help from many sources. Our core strength is ignited when we fully appreciate our role in ongoing circumstances.

The Days

1st – Thursday – Mercury Sesquiquadrate Saturn, Mars Sextile Jupiter –  A unique opportunity comes as our impulse to act is really on the right track.  Obstacles and misunderstandings can paralyze us.  Just being willing to take the next step, then the next, propels us in the right direction.  It isn’t that doubt and confusion are worthless; it is all a matter of perspective. Acting without malice or over-confidence strikes the right tone.

2nd – Friday – Venus Quincunx Pluto, Mercury Opposite Jupiter – We need to take stock of the big picture in order to put events in context.  Sometimes bullies do us a favor.  To recognize the beauty inherent in some unpleasant events can give us pause for reflection.  Others have things to share that we need even when we seem to have fundamental disagreements.

3rd – Saturday –  Sun Sesquiquadrate Pluto – Determination and fortitude are not enough.  In order to progress we need to take small steps.  When we keep our mind glued to the goal and remain light-hearted, the path forward is fun and much quicker than we would have supposed.

4th – Sunday –  Fanciful ideas can keep us married to high sounding values, which may lead us down an idyllic path to an imaginative but unobtainable future.  The real fun begins when we take practical steps on our own, regardless of the result.  Important values stand on their own legs without needing proof.

5th – Monday –  Venus enters Virgo, Sun Contra-parallel Mercury –  We see details that have missed our scrutiny; pieces of the larger picture come into focus.  New ideas emerge, but we fare better if our action conforms to traditional thinking for a while longer.  Opportunities to explore different responses to life circumstances present themselves before the end of the month.

6th – Tuesday –  Just keeping our head down with eyes looking at the objective carries us a great distance.  Some bad habits end and we mature if new ones don’t follow in their trail.  Letting go of the past allows freedom in the present and unlimited potential for the future.

7th – Wednesday –  Big ideas dominate our attention.  Can we capture them in a meaningful way?  Scientific innovation leads to bold proclamations.  Steps taken now will lift our spirits and troubles will become less a mental burden.

8th – Thursday –  Even when our own life is going great, there are people in the world that are having difficulties.  Does our sympathy move us toward concrete action?  Do we make room for others in our world? Rumination on our role in the lives of others is a good use of today’s energy.

9th – Friday – Venus Quincunx Jupiter, Mercury turns Retrograde – Details can tie us in knots, or free us.  We need to trust our sight but still be willing to take a leap of faith.  Actions are more empowering than words.

10th – Saturday – Mars Sesquiquadrate Pluto, the Full Moon is on the 17th degree of Virgo/Pisces at 5:58 AM EDT –  Nervous tension, anger, bitter feelings, all sap the pleasure of the day.  It is a moment meant for releasing and we benefit if we follow this path.  Destruction is easy and extremely useful; the trick is in aiming our arrows at the right target.  Deconstructing the weapons of war and hatred only has significance when it begins in our inner temple.

11th – Sunday –  Sun Trine Uranus –  A new vision emerges from the ashes of bygone eras.  Collective action brings results.  What we have done to the earth has been apparent for many years.  We have had many “wakeup calls”.   The government can’t do enough to rid us of past mistakes if we are afraid to talk to our neighbors about the things that really matter to all of us.

12th – Monday – Mercury Semi-sextile Venus, Sun Quincunx Saturn – We look up the past; people, ideas, situations from days gone by seek us out, in memory and in the flesh.  Not every encounter has a readily apparent cosmic purpose; sometimes we are simply having fun.  Reflection can be a good time to learn and absorb.

13th – Tuesday –  Sun Contra-parallel Neptune –  Important things must wait while we take care of a few basic items that make life possible.  Creative juices are flooding our senses.  Will we answer the call of the muse, or just keep our nose fixed on imagined duties?  Matters of the spirit cannot be postponed endlessly.

14th – Wednesday – Venus Sesquiquadrate Pluto –  Cravings can dictate life’s immediate purpose.  Does our addiction of the moment satisfy?   Relaxing and enjoying sensual stimulation can be a gateway to peace.  The material world CAN take us on an inner journey; it is all a matter of intent and consciousness.

15th – Thursday –  Simple pleasures have a way of opening us to the joy of life.  Friends come and go.  It is a real gift to be content with whatever happens.  Events in the world as well as disruptions in others can unbalance us.  Equilibrium is established by taking the long view.

16th – Friday – Venus Square Mars, Sun Opposite Neptune – It is possible to over-think our current situation.  If there is real tension between you and others, apologize.  We are way beyond the time when it matters who is to blame. We need harmony now.  Conflict can only be resolved at its root.

17th – Saturday –  A flood of information comes to us, but it is a stale rehash of things we already know.  To take a stand on factual data can be freeing, if we give everyone else the latitude to embrace their own opinion.  Listening can be an avenue to seeing the world with new eyes.

18th – Sunday – Mercury Opposite Jupiter, Sun Trine Pluto – The big picture and the small details don’t agree.  Some input from people that have offered to help in the past can be revisited.  It is easy to get off track; we go in the wrong direction if we don’t think before we act.  We have much potency for good or ill.  Checking our direction before moving saves us a good deal of trouble later.

19th – Monday –  Mercury Sesquiquadrate Saturn, Mercury Sesquiquadrate Uranus –  A true friend can tell us the truth, even when we don’t want to hear it.  We are caught between our urge to feel secure, and our insight into a better way of being.  Patience is required to make the stretch and feel authentic.

20th – Tuesday –  Venus Trine Uranus, Venus Quincunx Saturn –  Our heart tells us it’s time to change; we must let go of worn out rituals that promise much but actually give little.  The new way unfolding in front of us is so different than what we imagined, it will be easy to miss it.

21st – Wednesday –  Jupiter Semi-square Saturn, Mercury Parallel Neptune –  A boost of confidence lifts our spirits and we are in motion.   Much of our activity today seems like well traveled ground.  However, there are some things that we wish had turned out better the first time, so redoing them is a gift.

22nd – Thursday –  Sun Parallel Jupiter, Sun enters Libra –  Juggling many details is one of the charms of the day.  In the process of carrying out our everyday rituals, a few puzzles are solved.  The world comes into focus and several questions are answered, or just lose their significance.

23rd – Friday –  Mercury Retrogrades back into Virgo – Sorting out the significance of events is problematic because so much extraneous information clutters up our mind and our living room.  Suppressing the nominal data and physically eliminating unnecessary material from our personal environment helps straighten out our thoughts.

24th – Saturday – Venus Opposite Neptune, Venus Contra-parallel Neptune – Just because the world does not live up to our ideal, there is no reason to give up on a vision of beauty, harmony, and symmetry.  The best strategy today is to embrace the contradictions of life and be less critical.  This relaxing of judgment has to begin with ourselves.  At the same time that we clarify our mission, we must sharpen our tools.

25th – Sunday – Sun Parallel Mercury, the New Moon is at 5:54 PM EDT on the 2nd degree of Libra – Our natural instinct is to pull back into our cocoon.  However, it is time to move forward with a new impulse.  Our innate desire to take other people’s existence into consideration with our actions has to be countermanded in order to be our authentic real self.  Doing our own thing will still require hard work and consistent effort.

26th – Monday –  Venus Trine Pluto, Mars Semi-sextile Uranus, Sun Sesquiquadrate Uranus Mercury Conjunct Venus, Sun Opposite Jupiter – Luck is with us and with a little attention in the right places, long standing difficulties in marriage, partnerships, and all intimate relationships can be rectified.  We are at an important moment of atonement.  We have known for some time that problems can only be solved through a new approach; it has taken til now to find the key for turning insight into action.

27th – Tuesday – Mercury Parallel Jupiter, Mercury Contra-parallel Jupiter, Mercury Trine Pluto, Sun Contra-parallel Venus –  It takes quite a bit of fiddling around to locate the appropriate manner for expressing our values.  It is a learning process, but the material world becomes the proving ground.  Too much mental activity can leave us exhausted.  Life is easiest in the long run when we allow our higher wisdom to guide our steps.

28th – Wednesday – Mars Trine Saturn, Jupiter Semi-square Uranus – Extra effort is needed to complete tasks, but when we do, we win big.  The magic of the moment manifests if we know when we have worked enough and learn to relax.  When we share what we have, life becomes pleasurable.

29th – Thursday – Venus enters Libra, Mercury Parallel Venus – Our energy has been scattered for a while.  This was necessary as life is not reducible to one department. With some conscious effort and forethought, the coalescing of forces allows the creation of real inner harmony, and we achieve unity of purpose. Our circle of friends widens when we recognize others.

30th – Friday – Development along natural lines emerges when we let our joy, abundance, optimism be our guiding star.  Distant lands and visions of a better world mingle with memories of things we have done right in the past.  A new day is dawning and we are not alone.  A revolution in consciousness has been brewing in civilization for several years.  The pace is in an exponential speed up.  We need to let our better selves show.

My Personal Note

In a couple of days I’ll send an invitation with instructions to register for a conference called the Summit.  I’m speaking there September 19th to the 22nd via a pre-recorded talk.  The theme for the conference is preparing for 2023.  A number of my colleagues will also be speaking.  You must register to find out when any of the talks are being offered.  Dallisa Hocking, the organizer of the conference, recorded this talk of mine that will air at the conference.  This may be the most important talk I give on preparations for 2023.

My friend, Aswin Balaji Subramanyan, is offering free astrology readings.  Some of you have already partaken of his offer.  He plans on doing this once a month.  Let me know what your experience has been.

Katie had a birthday on Sunday night, August 28th.  We had a dinner this night with a few friends.  On Saturday a group of us celebrated with Katie with a luncheon at an Indian restaurant.  This was primarily so my sister, Mary Alice, could attend; she drove down from Sarasota to celebrate with us.  My health was not good so at the Sunday dinner, I had to go to bed with people still celebrating in my apartment.   Katie reminded me that I have a habit of not being well at the end of the month when I’m putting out the newsletter.  Even though much time, money, and energy goes into putting out this monthly offering, for the time being, I will continue.  I do my best each month to send you my love and share a part of what I am experiencing.

My dad would join us at the breakfast table in the morning.  I would ask him how he felt.  With a big smile and a twinkle in his eye he would say, “Grateful”.  As an adult I mentioned to him that I had more dead friends than living.  He asked me, “Do you know what time it is?”  I said, “No”.  He answered; “It’s time to make new friends.”
