OCTOBER 2003 by Bob Mulligan

Mercury is the Messenger of the Gods. He is often associated with reason, communication, and the thinking process. On September 20th he turned direct. This month he travels forward at a very fast pace, connecting in many ways with all of the planets. October is a month of rapid decision making, and lightning fast responses to unfolding circumstances. There is an underlying tension. This is an ironic foreshadowing of the two eclipses coming in November. The first is a total lunar eclipse. At the time of this eclipse, we have a gigantic benefic configuration called by some, “the harmonic concordance.” Whatever your spiritual belief, October will be a most powerful time with rumblings of this impending change.

During October, Saturn (Planet of Consolidation) turns retrograde. Neptune (Planet of Illusion) turns direct. October is a time where we alter the way we turn our dreams into reality. We are turning the corner for some very important aspects of our lives. Many events appearing now come to completion in December. Saturn turns direct in March of 2004. From now until then will be six months of gestation for many of the things that aren’t completed in October.

1st - Wednesday - We enter the month struggling a bit. Communicate clearly today.

2nd - Thursday – Venus Quincunx North Node. A sharp change of direction is necessary in order to avoid negative results from past action. Correct your course of action. You have the method to understand what needs to change.

3rd – Friday – Sun Trine Neptune. This is a bright spot on the map. It’s time to move forward.

4th - Saturday – Mercury Sesquiquadrate Neptune. Abrupt changes in orientation can bring us new insight.

5th – Sunday – Sun Trine the Moon. Forward movement on our key plans. Now we can see how to accomplish much in a short period of time.

6th – Monday – Venus Contra-parallel Jupiter and Sun Square Saturn, Mercury Quincunx Uranus, Mercury enters Libra. Tasks take extra time, but there are powerful rewards for patience and effort. Get a wider perspective now.

7th – Tuesday – Mercury Quincunx Mars, Sun Quincunx Uranus. Be willing to adjust all forms of assertion today.

8th – Wednesday –Energy builds as the day unfolds. Harmony can be created with another if you are willing to seize the opportunities as they emerge.

9th – Thursday - Venus Trine Uranus, Venus enters Scorpio, Sun Sesquiquadrate Mars. A burning desire for change and intensity can lead to poor choices or to putting energy in the wrong direction. Measured responses are better than total commitment to a line of action.

10th – Friday – Full Moon at 16 Aries/Libra at 3:29am EDT, Mercury Sesquiquadrate North Node, Venus Trine Mars. In the big picture we are suffering with lots of frustration, unsatisfied desires, and conflicts with others. In our personal lives we have opportunity for love and harmony. This can be accomplished by keeping our feelings and sentiments separated from the difficulties in the world around us.

11th – Saturday – Sun Sextile Pluto, Venus Semi-square Pluto. You may be given a perfect chance to improve your performance today by just following the leads as they unfold.

12th - Sunday – Mercury Semi-sextile Jupiter, Mercury Trine Neptune. Unexpected opportunities arise today. Take the good that comes without anticipating that more will follow.

13th – Monday – Venus Parallel Uranus. Emotional change can be difficult. Try to hang loose.

14th – Tuesday – Mars Parallel Pluto, Sun Quincunx North Node, Mercury Square Saturn. All steamed up and nowhere to release the energy. Try completing something you have been working on for a long time.

15th – Wednesday – Mercury Sesquiquadrate Uranus, Sun Contra-parallel Jupiter. Jubilant excitement runs over us. A feeling of luck and optimism can cause us to act on our new insights.

16th – Thursday – Venus Parallel Mars, Jupiter Quincunx Neptune, Venus Parallel Pluto. A wildly speculative day. We are prompted to take big risks.

17th– Friday – Mercury Sesquiquadrate Mars, Mercury Trine Pluto, Venus Square Neptune. This is a very productive day if you are able to channel your energy into a higher ideal.

18th – Saturday – Venus Sextile Jupiter, Mercury Quincunx North Node. There are real opportunities present, but it is necessary to simplify circumstances around you to even see the benefits being offered.

19th – Sunday - Sun Semi-square Jupiter. A nice pleasant day.

20th – Monday – Venus Trine Saturn. Careful focus and discipline is not pleasant or natural in the course of things today, but it can bring great personal rewards.

21st – Tuesday – Take a break today. Violent and disruptive aspects are whirling all around us. This is a time to maintain inner calm. Meditate, stay on an even path with work today and wait until Saturday to start any new project.

22nd – Wednesday –The Sun Contra-parallel the Moon, Mercury Semi-squares Jupiter, Sun Trines Uranus, Neptune stationary direct. We experience a great urgency to break the mold we have been living in. Change methods but try to stay focused on the same projects until they are completed. The New Moon on the 25th can give power to any new direction so wait until then to initiate new activity.

23rd – Thursday - Mars Parallel Uranus, Sun enters Scorpio, Mercury Trine Uranus. So many things we have worked on in the past come back to help us through this period of desolation. Much resolution can be found now.

24th – Friday – Mercury into Scorpio. We are setting up a path today for our next two weeks of effort.

25th – Saturday – The Sun Conjuncts Mercury; The New Moon; Venus Parallels Neptune; The Sun, Moon, Mars, and Uranus are all Parallel; Saturn stationary Retrograde. It doesn’t get better than this for starting a new project or starting off in a new direction.

26th – Sunday – Mercury Parallels Mars; The Sun Parallel Uranus and Semi-squares Pluto; Mercury is Parallel Uranus. We are prompted to act. Sitting still is difficult so we are thrown into motion by an inner nervousness.

27th – Monday – Sun Parallel Mercury, Mercury Trine Mars. Good and productive mental energy allows much to be done quickly.

28th - Tuesday – The urge to transform and the desire for personal freedom are in some conflict with each other. Being responsible is hard when you can’t see clearly your true obligations. Address your feelings.

29th – Wednesday – Mercury Parallel Pluto. Deep inner prompting stimulates something profound within the soul.

30th – Thursday – Sun Trine Mars, then Mercury Square Neptune. Be very careful in action today. It’s easy to get yourself into trouble that you can’t talk your way out of.

31st – Friday – Sun Parallel Pluto. Old habit patterns conflict with our desire for different results. We ponder how to spend this Friday night. The ability to change the world begins with mustering the will to change one’s self.
